Fender Squier Jazz Bass Wiring Diagram — wiring diagram is a simplified up to standard pictorial representation of an electrical circuit.
It shows the components of the circuit as simplified shapes, and the talent and signal connections between the devices. A wiring diagram usually gives guidance approximately the relative approach and promise of devices and terminals on the devices, to assist in building or servicing the device. A pictorial diagram would play in more detail of the creature appearance, whereas a wiring diagram uses a more symbolic notation to play up interconnections more than living thing appearance.
A wiring diagram is often used to troubleshoot problems and to create clear that every the associates have been made and that everything is present. Architectural wiring diagrams put-on the approximate locations and interconnections of receptacles, lighting, and remaining electrical facilities in a building. Interconnecting wire routes may be shown approximately, where particular receptacles or fixtures must be upon a common circuit.
Wiring diagrams use welcome symbols for wiring devices, usually interchange from those used upon schematic diagrams. The electrical symbols not only affect where something is to be installed, but afterward what type of device is innate installed. For example, a surface ceiling fresh is shown by one symbol, a recessed ceiling vivacious has a vary symbol, and a surface fluorescent fresh has out of the ordinary symbol.
Each type of switch has a alternative story and in view of that get the various outlets. There are symbols that play in the location of smoke detectors, the doorbell chime, and thermostat. A set of wiring diagrams may be required by the electrical inspection authority to implement attachment of the dwelling to the public electrical supply system. Wiring diagrams will furthermore complement panel schedules for circuit breaker panelboards, and riser diagrams for special services such as ember alarm or closed circuit television or additional special services.
In retrospect, three factors led to the change in the Telecaster wiring in late The first was customer demand to abandon the bassy neck-pickup preset.
Finally, CBS was known for their cost-cutting policies. The redesigned wiring was easier to produce than its predecessor and used only one capacitor instead of two.
After 17 years of existence, the neck pickup preset vanished and a new wiring that provided a more traditional dual-pickup switching was adopted. This old neck preset is mostly forgotten today because in the past, many players clipped off the 0.
Other guitarists simply rewired the whole circuit to their individual needs, and consequently some experts credit Leo as the inadvertent godfather of the guitar-modding scene. Position 1 switch lever on the right : Bridge pickup alone with tone control engaged.
Position 2 switch lever in the middle : Both pickups together in parallel. Position 3 switch lever on the left : Neck pickup alone with tone control engaged.
The small pF cap was soldered as a treble bypass cap between the input and the output of the volume pot to keep the high-end alive when rolling back the volume. This cap is not shown in the circuit drawing and is no longer used today.
The idea behind it was good, but pF was way too much and only a good choice for funk or reggae players, because it offered high-end galore but almost no bass. The absence of a resistor in parallel to the cap transformed the treble bypass cap into a treble bleed network, and it influenced the taper of the volume pot in a bad way—another downside of this design.
For all wire-runs from the pickups, and to and from the switch and pots, Fender used a waxed cloth wire in black and white, skipping yellow as a third color. Black was for all ground connections, white for the hot wires from the pickups, as well as all connections between the switch and the pots.
Note that the tone cap wiring shown here is not the way it was done in the Fender factory—instead, it contains a modern, useful twist.
Diagram courtesy of Seymour Duncan and used by permission. When using very large tone caps, like tubular shaped paper-waxed caps, paper-in-oil caps, or the all-time favorite Orange Drops, it may be necessary to use the original Fender factory approach because placing such big caps on the bottom of the tone pot can cause space problems.
The bottom of the cavity may not be routed deep enough to accommodate the pot when a large cap is soldered to it, so please keep this in mind when using large tone caps.
Placing them between the two pots will avoid such issues.

Need wiring help with 3 way import switch Discussion in ' Tech-Talk ' started by RollmeawayMay 2, Age: 65 So I got my white pearl pickguard, two humbucker sized P pups, pots and and a 3 way import switch. The guitar is my black Bullet. I needed the import switch because a rotary blade switch is to deep to fit in the control cavity.
The pups have a shielded, single wire output. Typical 3 way switch with two banks: 1,2,3, C,C,1,2,3. Any help on a wiring diagram for this? I have one from a google search, but maybe someone smarter than me can help me out with something better. RollmeawayMay 2, Kenneth Mountain likes this. Age: 46 7, I had to do alot of searching when wiring up my Esquire with the blade humbucker. The SD site didn't have any diagrams for the crl swith I was using. I finally found that it was just backwards from the others. Rollmeaway likes this. Kenneth Mountainradiotech and Rollmeaway like this. I hope you all had a great holidays and that Santa brought you some nice new gear toys … maybe a Telecaster? If so, heat up your soldering iron, because this month, we will take a closer look into the Telecaster circuit and the possibilities to expand its tonal palette.
To start, I would like to ask you a question: how many things can you name that are still built today exactly the same way as 60 years before? The Telecaster is one of them! Without any doubt, Leo Fender was one of the great masterminds in musical history. Almost 60 years ago, he constructed an electrical guitar that remains a landmark today.
The Telecaster is a guitar with very complex primary-tone physics, but on the other hand, is electronically very simple. If your Telecaster has a good primary tone, it will benefit from the following mods and you can maximize your tonal possibilities. To make your guitar road-worthy, I highly recommend completely replacing all external components with a "made in the Far East" quality. This can also cure a dull sounding guitar and the virtual "blanket over my amp" syndrome.U-Can Telecaster Pickup Change
A fresh and matched set of high quality CTS pots, a good CRL 3-way switch, a new Switchcraft or Neutrik output jack, all connected with good cable and solder plus a top-notch tone cap can do magic to your tone.
Having said that, let''s look at the standard Telecaster wiring that is used in almost all Telecaster guitars today. We will talk about this subject later. Changing Pot and Cap Values As a guideline you can say the higher the resistance, the warmer the tone. This is valid for both the pots and the tone cap.
For a very bright sounding guitar, I recommend k pots to get rid of the penetrating highs; vice versa, you can use k or even 1Meg pots on guitars with not so sparkling high-end sizzle to bring out more of the top-end.Bmw egr valve noise
Of course, this all is personal choice, and is dependent on the pickups you use. The standard value of the tone cap is 0. This will guarantee that your tone will always be defined and full of life and color, even when you completely close the tone control. Personally I use selected pF Orange Drop caps and k pots for a classic, vintage Telecaster tone. Pickup Swapping I bet the number of good replacement pickups available for Teles has never been bigger than today.
An often discussed subject is the Telecaster neck pickup, as it seems to divide players into two different parties: you either love it or hate it. If you are willing to reroute the pickup cavity or better yet, let an experienced luthier do ithere are some suggestions that sound incredibly good on a Telecaster: a Stratocaster neck pickup a P soapbar pickup especially on a Thinline Telecaster a Gibson or Gibson-style Mini Humbucker Coil Splitting If your guitar is equipped with a 4-conductor cable humbucker, you can perform all kinds of coil splitting to enlarge the number of possible sounds … singlecoil mode, parallel mode, in phase, out of phase, etc.
A prime example of a good sounding bridge pickup humbucker for Telecasters is the DiMarzio "The Chopper" pickup. A pickup like this can give you the best of both worlds: a hot and punchy humbucker tone and a classic, twangy singlecoil sound in the split mode. One problem with this is that all the pickup manufacturers use different color codes, so there is no general guideline how to wire all the coil splitting options, as it depends on the pickup you have installed.
Electronically there is nothing special about this wiring, it simply connects the tone pot to the output of the volume pot middle luginstead of with the input. This changes the way the volume pot reacts, and the overall tone gets stronger and more transparent - more "in the face," you could say. There is much less of the typical treble loss that occurs when rolling back the volume and the tone control reacts smoother and more linear without the typical hot spots.
You can also consider using an additional switch to have both wiring variants available: the classic Fender wiring, as well as the 50s Gibson vintage wiring. The "Strato-tone" Mod aka "Nashville" Modification Many of the top Nashville studio players, like Brent Mason or Reggie Young, are playing Telecasters with an additional third pickup in the middle position to get those popular "in-between" Strat sounds bridge plus middle and middle plus neck together in parallel.Once you comprehend the different kinds of switches and adhere to a great wiring diagram, you ought to be in a position to put in a new switch in your house.
Most switches are standard but you might want to take out the switch and take it to the shop to make certain you have the specific replacement switch.

Squier-Talk Forum. Hey all. Looking at Fender's wiring diagram, it looks like the humbucker has 4 wires, and the colors don't match up to what SD uses.Ramen distributor
Looks like Fender has the green as a ground wire? Anyone know how to wire in this pickup? From SD's website: All Seymour Duncan humbuckers with four-conductor hookup wires incorporate a standard wire color code.
The bare wire is always grounded. Kenneth Mountain likes this. Age: 44 7, Now if you're wiring it up 'normal old school' way, and you don't want coil split I need more info GuitarmageddonApr 25, I'm looking at this Sheesh, I just went back and actually read your question You are running a tele.
Gotta think about that, don't want the neck and 'bucker to be out of phase in position This only applies to a strat. Ok, so if you want the switch to split the coil on the humbucker, then wire to red and white wires together to one side of the switch, and a ground to the other. I usually wire my 5 way switch to do this in position 4 only to combine the mid and the north coil of the bridge, so that position 5 is humbucker by itself.
Last edited: Apr 25, I don't think it matters which coil is physically closest to the neck, it's which one that is live that matters. I can't figure out a way to be able to run just the north coil by itself, but that might not be a bad thing, you probably wouldn't want to accidently end up with the north coil and the neck on together, being out of phase they would sound really weak and thin.
FOund this on another forum. Other than getting green and black backwards, it worked: The black wire on your Seymour Duncan pickup is the same as the red wire coming from the Fender bridge pickup in the Modern Player Tele diagram you posted. You would solder the red and white of the Duncan pickup to where the white Fender bridge wire is now. Green is the same on both Fender and Duncan, according to what that Modern Player diagram is showing. So I connected red and white and put it where white is above.Lg g5 latest software update
Then green from the SD where red was above. Then black and bare to ground. Works just like it did with the stock pickup.
